Marianne Williamson

Marianne Deborah Williamson (born July 8, 1952)  is an internationally acclaimed lecturer, activist, and author of four #1 New York Times bestselling books. She has been one of America’s most well known public voices for more than three decades.

Seven of her twelve published books have been New York Times bestsellers and Marianne has been a popular guest on television programs such as Oprah, Good Morning America, and Bill Maher. A quote from the mega-bestseller A Return to Love, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…” is considered an anthem for a contemporary generation of seekers.

Marianne is a native of Houston, Texas. In 1989, she founded Project Angel Food, a meals-on-wheels program that serves homebound people with AIDS in the Los Angeles area. To date, Project Angel Food has served over 11 million meals. Marianne also co-founded the Peace Alliance, a nonprofit organization based in the United States that works on domestic and international peacebuilding. The organization organizes Peace Alliance Action Teams within state congressional districts and also a Student Peace Alliance youth group.

In 2014, Williamson unsuccessfully ran as an independent to represent California’s 33rd Congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.

On January 29, 2019, she announced her campaign to seek the Democratic nomination for the 2020  United States presidential election.
