Colorful Art of Gary Rogers

Gary Rogers, our contributing artist from Hyde Park, New York, started painting at the age of 8. Art has become his life’s ambition and his voice. He loves to paint in many different styles – realism, impressionism, and surrealism. Some of his paintings are meant to make statements about life in the 21st century and some are meant to be purely beautiful.

“Since the early age of 8”, Roger says, “painting has been my first language, and color, my voice. I use dynamic color combinations to convey a multitude of emotions to the viewer, as well as evoke a reaction. My objective is to take the viewer to the places that exist only in my mind, My paintings are derived from a lifetime of observing life and nature in the Hudson River area, as well as pure imagination.

I also tend to insert religious and political references in my paintings in obscure ways, giving them an added depth. My paintings are not planned or drawn out, but start with a few expressive brushstrokes. Instead of mixing my colors, I prefer to use intense colors straight from the tube. When I am painting, I think about what color is next, instead of what detail I should draw. This technique allows for limitless possibilities of what these saturated colors can come together to create on the canvas”

Gary also likes contrasts, dark and light, good and evil and that’s reflected in his work. See more at https://www.facebook.com/gary.rogers.12720http://www.art-3000.com
